Våler Church

The footprint of the burnt down historic Våler Church marks a scar in the landscape. But by reusing the churchyard’s entrance, the new Våler Church’s placement can pay respect to the town’s history. Inspired by the relation between heaven and earth, the church is a continuance of the landscape that stretches towards the sky to becomes a focal point in its surroundings. The building consists of wooden lamellas that start low and wide but gradually change to high and narrow to form the soaring church tower.
