Sandnes Townhall

The essence of Sandnes Townhall is to create a building that will become a focal point of the new harbor front masterplan. Rather than following the simple grid structure, the town hall liberates itself by taking the shape of a circle, distinguishing from the city block and establishing a significant presence in the townscape. Sandnes was once famed for its ceramic factories. As a homage to the town heritage and the waterfront location, we propose a rippling glazed ceramic cladding, which catches the light in a particular way to enhance the circular shape of the building.
