Marielyst is a small town (1000 residents) synonymous with the beach. It has one of the best beaches in Denmark and attracts more than 50.000 people a day during the summer. Yet, when arriving to Marielyst town one does not experience the atmosphere of the beach. The access to the beach is basically an unplanned urban strip, which is randomly formed by the commercial value of the constant stream of passer-bys. We propose to bring the vocabulary of the beach back into the townscape and create a coherent identity and spatial experience that would be attractive all year round.
